Building A Roadmap For Transformation

Customer Profile: The customer is a manufacturer of cleaning products, acids, and other hygiene chemicals. It is a family business started by an entrepreneur 25 years ago. The growth of the company was limited by the knowledge and management skills available in the team. The business owner reached out to us for help in being able to handle various challenges that he was facing related to Sales, Sales Management, People, Production, and Succession Planning.

Problem: The problems that he was facing were

  • How to control a field sales force of about 30 people?
  • How to manage consultants within the confidentiality of the business?
  • The HR practices were nonexistent so the client was facing a lot of people issues. Outsiders who were brought in were not accepted by the team.
  • All of these were leading to a lot of time being taken up from the entrepreneur on a day to day basis which was reducing his level of satisfaction running the business. To complicate matters the pandemic scenario created more challenges from an HR point of view as well as from a processes point of view.

Solution: We did a comprehensive organizational audit for this client across all the departments, all the key people. We interacted with all the department leads, we had video conferences with people who were outstation, we spoke to all the consultants we involved. We had multiple meetings with the business owner to define the problems faced and the expected goals were created. All processes were studied by us and understood on as-is basis. We looked at all the bottlenecks which were currently faced by them and based on our assessment of all these challenges we created a transition roadmap, spanning a period of 12-18 months. We gave the business owner a complete clarity of how he could take his organization from the current situation to where he wanted to be.
