Company Profile: One of India’s oldest manufacturers of plywood


Problem: Over a period of a few years, the slowing down of the market had led to the operations becoming chaotic due to rising inventories and non-receipt of dues from the customer. There was a need to evaluate the root causes of the drop in business performance and recommend to the client the way forward to get the company back in shape.


Solution: We did a deep dive into all departments of the organization including depots in other cities. We observed that the organization had not kept in tune with the needs of the market. Also, the evolution of operations had not caught up with the growth of the business. We created a transformation roadmap with recommendations of the roles that needed to be hired and the IT systems that needed to be implemented. We also defined the need to rationalize IT systems between the Head Office and the Depots. During the study, we demonstrated wasteful production management practices with improvement suggestions which could help in operational efficiency.


Benefit: The client was able to see a clear list of action areas which he needed to work on, to be able to get out of the situation that his business was in, and a clear linkage between the problem areas and the business barriers that he was seeing in day to day execution. This gave him right inputs to be able to implement improvement actions.
